About My Clients
My experience working with underserved forensic populations has exposed me to the recognition and treatment of all mental health conditions and an ability to understand the individual holistically. I have worked with many treatment resistant individuals, which has helped me to gain a very skilled approach to ensuring therapeutic rapport, confidence and trust with my clients. I am skilled at being culturally competent, trauma-informed, and appreciative of diversities.
My Background and Approach
I have a doctorate degree in Clinical Forensic Psychology and I have worked within the criminal justice system since 2010. y grandfather was a forensic science expert and law enforcement official who co-created the first ever sexual assault evidence collection kit. He inspired me to chase higher education and a bigger purpose which has led me on so many invaluable paths. I have worked with all ages, clients on Probation or Parole, and incarcerated juveniles and adults. My experience with these populations has allowed me exposure to all diagnostic mental health conditions, cultural backgrounds, orientations, and trauma experiences.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that the most effective aspect of therapy, is the therapeutic relationship and rapport with the client. After over a decade working with court mandated clients and those who were treatment hesitant or resistant, I have found unique ways to ensure that trust and comfort exist within the therapeutic setting. Without a good rapport, I would not be setting up my clients for success in achieving their treatment goals. This is one of the most important areas of my practice that I tailor to each client, and continue to work on and grow daily.
