About My Clients
I work with individuals and couples that find themselves struggling to navigate internal and external conflicts. In therapy we focus on increasing one's awareness of the core beliefs about themselves and others that create negative feedback loops, making it difficult for positive change to occur. Changing one's perception of reality aids in reducing distress and symptoms of anxiety and depression. "The world is not what I think, but that which I live." - Merleau-Ponty
My Background and Approach
I am a NYS Licensed New York State Marriage and Family Therapist. I utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in therapy as well as other modalities. ACT Therapy focuses on increasing mindfulness skills that help her patients recognize and address challenges that have occurred due to attempts at suppressing, managing, or trying to control one’s emotional experiences. In therapy we work to reveal the deepest truth within us, allowing it to come out in a safe space free of judgement. If a person can be who they are in an authentic way they often find things that genuinely satisfy them and give them enjoyment.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
So much of our suffering comes from our beliefs. We suffer when we hold fast and true to an ideal of our “self”. We will do anything to protect our belief around this “self”. Often to protect this “self” we run away from threats to those beliefs and feelings of uncomfortability. In order to find the remedy for our suffering we have to stop avoiding the source. Understanding the source allows us to ease the pain and transform it into compassion.
