About My Clients
I specialize in working with women who are struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, overwhelm, boundaries, women’s issues, perinatal/postpartum, trauma and relationship challenges.
My Background and Approach
I started my career in 2016 and have provided mental health therapy in a variety of settings since then. Some of these settings include inpatient mental health hospitals, medical clinics, community mental health agencies, private practices, substance abuse treatment facilities, crisis phone hotlines, and non-profit organizations for victims of sexual assault. In addition to running my therapy practice, I also teach psychology and social work classes at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. My favorite interventions to utilize are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Th stress of being a woman in today’s society is significantly overlooked. We’re expected to have successful full-time careers, raise a family, keep the house clean and the pantry stocked, prepare daily home-cooked meals, keep up with society’s ever-changing standard of “beauty,” exercise and eat healthy, maintain a close group of friends, have strong relationships with our partners, and prove it all on social media. We do all this while battling intrusive thoughts of perfectionism, low self-worth, poor body image, and never-ending guilt. We’re told to hold in and hide our stress while keeping a smile on our faces. Even when we feel like we’re drowning and there’s nothing left of us to give, we continue to put everyone else first. The pressure and expectations on us are endless, and let’s not forget the perpetual sexual, emotional, and physical violence we experience that is often minimized. I aim to provide women a safe and confidential space to process, feel, and heal.
