About My Clients
I serve those clients with anxiety disorders, depression, trauma, substance use disorders, and those dealing with grief and loss. I have worked with those living with HIV/AIDS and have helped them to transition into healthy and balanced living focusing on the mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, and social aspects of their lives. I stress an emphasis on strengths, reframing thought patterns, and determining and setting purpose for your life. Together we collaborate for Therapeutic gains.
My Background and Approach
I have a Master of Science degree in Professional Counseling and I have been able to work with various populations to enhance my work experience and understanding of many from various socioeconomic backgrounds. I have experience working with military personnel in the Substance Use Disorders program and with those diagnosed with PTSD, I have worked with the Division of Prisons and Psychological Services, I have also worked with those living with HIV and AIDS and assisting them with connecting to medical care and understanding and managing their diagnosis. Other experience includes outpatient treatment with mental health and co-occurring disorders and medication assisted therapy for those seeking opioid treatment. I have done individual and group therapy and collaborate with the client to foster Therapeutic rapport and this in turn elicits Therapeutic gains in the clinical setting. I use an eclectic approach in Therapy sessions, yet I emphasize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in my work
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I subscribe to the quote that highlights a life of purpose- "There are two important days in your life, the day you were born and the day you find out why." With a strong connection to and acknowledgement of strengths it becomes easier to make progress in everyday life. At the time a person realizes that there is so much more to who they are as an individual and how their very existence is meaningful and necessary then it is such a great way to connect to focus, discipline, character, and integrity and use these elements to direct positive change and growth in one's life. If the change that an individual desires to make starts within then this accountability, responsibility, and ownership becomes the catalyst, I believe to making not only personal change but as each person makes a change then the community changes, and then territories and then the world and beyond. I value the importance of each person and the connection to the whole and able to function to their fullest potential.
