About My Clients

Are you feeling stuck or frustrated about your life path or relationships? Are you tired of arguing, feeling lonely or shut-out in your relationships? And nothing you've tried seems to work? It would be my honor to explore these issues with you, and hopefully, assist you in better understanding and identifying more preferred ways to live and cope with them.

My Background and Approach

I am glad you are taking step toward personal and relational improvement. Starting therapy either for the first time or entering a new therapeutic relationship can be a hurdle for many people of color and those who are struggling with behavioral health issues. As bilingual Asian-American male growing up in an immigrant family in San Diego, CA, I understand many barriers associated with seeking professional help. Which is one of the reason why I chose to become a therapist. I believe that all relationships, especially helping relationships, must have respect, trust, compassion and empathy. My counseling style is resiliency-based, culturally-responsive and person-centered care model. I believe that cultures/traditions/personal experiences greatly impact how individuals perceive and cope with life problems and successful therapy must be sensitive these issues and adaptive to the uniqueness of each individual.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that everything we do in life directly or indirectly relate to current socio-political issues. I value and respect people from all cultures, gender/sexual orientations, political/national affiliations, religious/spiritual practices and other ways of life. We are living in a time of great need for increased understanding about the impact of systemic racism, gender/sexual orientation inequality, and discriminations against other oppressed groups. I am an active member in WAMFT, AAMFT, and AAPA.
