About My Clients

Adults and older teens seeking steady, practical therapy. I’m a licensed mental health and addiction counselor. I help with anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship strain, and substance use recovery (including MAT coordination). My style is collaborative, compassionate, and skills-focused—grounded in an eclectic approach, using what works best for you. If you’re ready for clear goals, honest feedback, and a safe, nonjudgmental space, we’ll work well together.

My Background and Approach

Trevor Simpson, MS, LCMHCA, LCAS-A. I’m a licensed mental health and addiction counselor trained at UNC-Chapel Hill (BA Psychology) and East Carolina University (MS Clinical Counseling). For 2+ years I’ve helped adults and older teens with anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship strain, and substance use. My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and practical—grounded in CBT and Motivational Interviewing. We’ll set clear goals, build skills, track progress, and, when helpful, coordinate care (including MAT). Clients describe me as down-to-earth and nonjudgmental; you bring your story, I bring structure, tools, and steady support. Together we’ll reduce symptoms, strengthen resilience, and create routines that fit your real life.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe people are more than a diagnosis, and that symptoms usually make sense in light of a person’s story. Change is always possible. My values are dignity, compassion, and practical accountability—progress over perfection. Recovery isn’t linear; slips are data, not moral failure. I’m LGBTQ+-affirming, trauma-informed, culturally humble, and faith-friendly when clients want to integrate spirituality. I support harm reduction and evidence-based MAT, and I advocate for stigma-free access to care. I also enjoy offering community education on overdose prevention and mental-health literacy. Above all, I aim to create a nonjudgmental space where you feel seen, supported, and empowered to build the life you want.
