Codependency can be hard to spot and even harder to come to terms with. Codependency has a place it was learned and a usefulness that keeps us in it. It does us no good to simply try to stop without understanding where it came from. Understanding how our relationship dynamics developed over time can help us understand what it does for us and how we can change behavior. Support and validation are necessary at all steps and compassion helps us move foward.

With a history of working in, developing treatment for, and running programs in the recovery field, I hope to work with a holistic approach so that each client feels heard and understood throughout the whole process. Amidst concerns about what recovery means, legal concerns, family stress, and many other things, getting effective treatment and guidance is paramount. No matter what spot you are in, be assured that all of these things can be worked with and healed.

Alcohol abuse and dependence is difficult to spot and treat as culture is constantly wrapped in drinking culture. When working with someone who has identified drinking as an issue, it is important to consider all of the factors involved in someone's life. It will take effective and specific treatment in order to help work towards long-term goals of recovery and support. My experience with recovery and long-term sobriety helps in guiding next steps in the recovery process.

EFT provides a wonderful way to engage in a couple dynamic that can fee hopeless. This directive intervention gives support for couples to redefine their relationship and how to interact with one another. I use this intervention with nearly any couple that I work with and have done so for years now, with specific training in graduate school. Through this framework and engagement in sessions, I work with clients to find peace in whichever direction they decide to go next in their relationship.

Attachment Theory informs every aspect of my practice. I am always looking to see the thread of belief that clients have carried with them throughout their life. Attachment Theory can help us understand why we do the things that we do and what needs we are trying to meet. With some work and insight, many of my clients have the "aha" moment where their story starts to make sense. This is a part of all of my treatment, seeking insight and motivation for their actions.

While most therapists stray away from working with addiction, I have dedicated a PhD program to it. Working in many different aspects of rehab and recovery, as well as continually engaging in the most up-to-date research has allowed me to have an insight to the most effective forms of treatment. I am connected to many different recovery programs and supports in TN to guide wrap-around care for wherever someone is in their journey.

Depression can take a toll on anyone, especially if becomes more than a symptom, but who you are. Depression may come from many different places, but it can always tell you something. I do not just work to lessen symptoms, but to get to the core and sense of meaning. Once people understand themselves, their depression becomes lessened or much more tolerable.

Anxiety is all around us these days. Sometimes were anxious because of the past and sometimes because of the present. No matter the scenario, anxiety can tell us about what we need. Whether that is safety, direction, support, or skills, anxiety can be managed and seen as useful if kept within its proper bounds.
