As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I feel competent in providing the support that LGBT individuals may need, because I've needed it in my life as well. None of us experience the same life, but there can be similarities. The LGBTQIA+ community is often a target just for who we love or how we are identify. I'm here to tell you that you're perfect as you are. Let's explore cognitive distortions and learn to manage these negative feelings and thoughts in a healthy way.
As someone who lives with Anxiety, I know what it's like to feel like your mind won't stop. Through my own experiences I've discovered ways to manage these thoughts, and have learned to challenge them. I've also worked in mental health in a case management role for a number years witnessing how others mental illness impacts them. I've also worked in group therapy settings providing education around DBT and CBT skills to help manage anxiety.
Depression is a very common thing and you're not alone in your feelings. 280 million people around the world have depression, people we may look up to and people that we care about in our own lives also live with depression, but you're here looking for help because you're ready to change. It's my hope that we can explore your feelings and work to find the connections in your life that may trigger those feelings, and develop coping skills to be able to combat these thoughts.
I live and breathe social work, and therapy at this point in my life. It's my goal to help you take an issue you're experiencing and explore what the real source of your pain is. Sometimes we think we know what's wrong but having someone to help find links in your life that you can miss, it helps formulate a way through.
