About My Clients
Our sessions are about you, the individual seeking support, whatever is weighing on you is worth bringing to a session. Therapy is a resource that can offer a fresh view of your struggles and help you see that you are more resilient than you think you are, and that you have the strength to make the changes you want to see in your life.
My Background and Approach
For many of us who have felt different, including those in the LGBTQIA+, we live with the collective trauma of existing in a system that isn’t built for us to thrive as our authentic selves. My hope is that through our collaboration we will be able to explore and identify the experiences and traumas that have led you to seek therapy services, understand how these problem areas don’t impact what is the most obvious, but also understand that sometimes these problems go much deeper, and lastly work through the things we discover to help you push through the discomfort to empower you to live authentically.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I entered the world of social work and therapy because of my desire to help people who feel like they have nobody in their corner. As a member of the LGBT community I know first hand what it's like to be looked at or treated as less then. I know what it's like to be the client as well, as someone who lives with their own mental health disorders, I know therapy can be uncomfortable at times. It's my hope that we can explore those uncomfortable feelings together. It's my personal belief that with some help and guidance we can all become the individuals we feel we were mean't to become. I have a passion for social justice and while therapy is geared towards individual change, sometimes we need to be reminded that we are worth standing up for and deserve to have pride in the people we are. How can we advocate for others if we can't advocate for ourselves.
