My Background and Approach
I’m a licensed psychologist and marriage and family therapist with extensive experience helping individuals navigate major life transitions, particularly divorce, family estrangement, adoption, and stepfamily integration. My training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based practices, and trauma-informed care allows me to tailor treatment to your unique needs—whether you're managing intense emotions, rebuilding your identity, or redefining your future. I specialize in working with men and women who are ready to face difficult truths, develop healthier patterns, and move forward with purpose. Clients often tell me they appreciate my direct, compassionate approach, which helps them feel supported while also being challenged to grow. My goal is to create a safe, honest space where you can gain clarity, strengthen your resilience, and take actionable steps toward the life you want.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I bring a diverse background that deeply informs my work. I serve as a university professor, where I teach and mentor future mental health professionals—an experience that keeps me grounded in the latest research and best practices. I've also volunteered in disaster and crisis response, offering psychological first aid to individuals and communities in the aftermath of traumatic events. My work in law enforcement advocacy has given me insight into high-stress environments and the complex emotional challenges faced by first responders and their families. I’m passionate about animal rescue and share my home with several adopted and foster pets. I find peace and renewal in my organic herb garden, which I tend year-round in Zone 11. My passions keep me connected to the importance of healing, growth, and balance—values I bring into my work with clients. I believe therapy should be a collaborative, grounded process that supports you in living a more authentic and meaningful life.
