About My Clients
Maybe you’ve become really good at holding everything together while quietly feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, stuck, or unsure of what you need. Perhaps you’re navigating a life transition, relationship challenge, anxiety, perfectionism, grief, complexities of aging, the weight of caregiving or working in the healthcare field, or a pattern that seems to keep showing up even when you want it to change. I bring curiosity, creativity, and genuine warmth to our work, walking alongside your growth.
My Background and Approach
My interest in how people change across a lifetime started long before graduate school. I earned my bachelor's degree in Gerontology, the study of aging, from San Diego State University, and later a master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Colorado Denver. That background shapes how I listen: I understand the complexities of transitions, relationships, family dynamics, caregiving, and loss. My approach draws from narrative therapy (the stories you tell about yourself), parts work (your inner voices, like the critic or caretaker), and psychodynamic perspectives (how the past shapes the present), in a trauma-informed, nonjudgmental space. I also bring in practical, experiential, and self-compassion-based tools when they're helpful. Together, we'll explore the patterns, relationships, and emotions that shape how you see yourself and others. We will move at your pace, and I'll offer guidance along the way.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe the relationship between us is the foundation of good therapy. When you feel safe, understood, and respected, deeper work becomes possible. I believe everyone can change and grow at any point in life, at any age. I also believe that those who support others, whether as caregivers, healthcare professionals, or the family member everyone leans on, deserve to be supported and cared for too. What we learned and saw modeled for us growing up shapes how we show up today, and understanding those patterns is often the first step toward choosing something different. I value inclusion and collaboration, and I see therapy as something we build together, with respect for your identity, culture, and experiences. Outside the office, I'm an animal person. My dog, Louie, is currently in training to join us in sessions soon, and I'm excited for the comfort he may bring.
