About My Clients
I primarily work with young adult women (trans and non-binary inclusive), specifically on topics including anxiety and panic, questioning/navigating sexual orientation, and bisexual women's issues such as queer imposter syndrome.
My Background and Approach
My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed and practical. I integrate a number of therapeutic approaches to tailor therapy to your individual needs and goals. I don't view myself as the expert in the room - you are the expert on your life, needs and goals, and I'm there to support you along the way as you process and make decisions that feel right to you in your own timing. I offer support in considering your experiences and what messages you may have internalized from your past, family, culture and the larger systems around us. I can help you make sense of your anxiety and trauma responses in light of how the brain and body react to stress and help you discover ways to gently improve your own self-talk and build your "toolbox" of strategies to help you care for yourself.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I practice from a liberation health, anti-oppression and anti-racist perspective. I am intentional about being in community with others who can hold me accountable and help me reflect on myself and my work. I believe the concept of "evidence-based practice" is based in white supremacy and that we make a mistake when we elevate it over other forms of wisdom as somehow more objective or valid. I'm a progressive Christian and have my own experiences of high-control religious environments/religious trauma and of struggling with mental health. Outside of offering therapeutic support, I love to read, visit local coffee shops and libraries, wear flannel, spend time outside, cook new recipes for people I love, play video games and hang out with my kiddo.
