Creative Art Therapist in New York, NY
The individual needs of each client is what informs the approach that I use with each client. I believe that therapy is for everyone and also understand that everyone’s story and experiences are unique. As such, my approach encompasses a broad variety of therapeutic techniques, ranging from traditional talk therapy to creative arts therapy, to meditation and reiki, to DBT, in order to meet my clients where they are.
DBT, or dialectical behavioral therapy, is a type of psychotherapy that is a modification of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). The goal of DBT is to teach people how to live in the present moment, develop skills to manage painful emotions, and improve their relationships with others. DBT encourages an individual to move away from extremes and find balance by decreasing black and white or all-or-nothing thinking.
Music therapy incorporates music as a way to improve your mental health and overall well-being. From listening to music, playing an instrument, singing or writing a song, music therapy, when practiced with a licensed therapist, gives you the ability to discover or express underlying causes of pain or stress. People of all ages can benefit from music therapy, and no amount of musical ability or prior experience is needed.
