About My Clients

Children and teens have so much going on, especially emerging from the pandemic. I enjoy working with youth and families in their adjustment back to routine, and supporting them in their journey towards individuation. I also see adults and youth in my practice who are struggling with ADHD, as well as those raised by immigrant parents who experience common feelings such as guilt, shame, alienation, identity confusion, and obligation.

My Background and Approach

My training and work experiences included seeing clients across the lifespan. Prior to graduate school, I volunteered and worked with survivors of domestic violence, assault, and exploitation. During my graduate training, I served clients across the lifespan in a variety of settings including community mental health agencies, college counseling, forensic site, and neuropsychological assessment. I completed my pre-and post-doctorate training at hospital-affiliated clinics working with children, teens, and families. My style in therapy tends to be warm, but honest, direct, and a bit silly at times (because kids!) I utilize an integrative approach to therapy, including psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy techniques. My specialities include working with children, teens, ADHD, and children/adults raised by immigrant parents.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My practice, named after the beloved plum blossom in many Asian cultures, represents my belief that all can thrive under adverse conditions like the plum blossom. As a second-generation Chinese American who was raised by immigrant parents from the Guangdong province, I have experienced the immense joys of being part of a collectivistic culture, as well as many of the common struggles. My parents instilled in me the importance of helping others, and collaboration. From a young age, I observed how culture, family, and individual experiences can continue to impact a person's mental health through the generations. I have a deep curiosity of others, and I look forward to helping you uncover your own experiences and how to move forward.

I offer online counseling in the following states:
