Self-awareness will often lead to self-acceptance, allowing for change to be created where you see fit.
CBT focuses on what is happening in the present, rather than what lead up to the current situation. By looking at disruptive or negative thinking patterns, we can learn to change our thought process. Through our work together, we will identify issues and learn coping skills, as well as utilize "homework" to apply our work outside of sessions. Ultimately individuals can navigate through life's difficulties over time on their own, using their newly created thought processes.
Solution-focused therapy is a goal-directed collaborative approach to creating change. Through observation of responses, it helps patients identify what they do well and encourages them to use their strengths to reach their goals. Our work will focus on the identified issue and how to develop the best course of action for each person, as it relates to their individual strengths and weaknesses. Progress is determined by the individual and their feelings of success.
Feeling sad, lonely and unmotivated can leave a person with a loss of interest in activities and create physical symptoms which are hard to overcome. Depression is so very common and can take on many forms. I have extensive experience with helping individuals understand the "why" behind the symptoms and how to cope with them. Sometimes medication is needed in conjunction with therapy to create the best possible outcome, but gaining self-awareness is the foundation of our work together.
Anxiety is a physical response to excessive fear and/or worry, which is strong enough to interfere with one's daily life. These fears are out of proportion to any actual danger and can be difficult to control. It's important for individuals to understand the connection between the type of anxiety present and symptoms they experience. I help individuals learn specific coping skills to manage their symptoms, while gaining an understanding of the root cause of the anxiety which persists.
Think back to when you first fell in love. Your relationship was built on a foundation. Along the way, that foundation was forgotten, and life circumstances created a disconnect between you. Together, we can create an awareness of what each person needs individually and replace unhealthy communication with the ability to seek to understand each other, rather than respond with negativity.
