About My Clients
My clients range from those trying to live more meaningful, rich lives to those wanting to learn better relationality to those dealing with significant struggles including anxiety, ADHD, trauma, depression and OCD. Clients that find a good fit with me tend to be open to their emotions and motivated to grow.
My Background and Approach
I use a range of therapeutic tools to help you find your way out of the confusion of repeated patterns. My practice integrates techniques including psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, mindfulness, neuroscience and evolutionary psychology as well as techniques to create receptive states in which change is more available including guided imagery, somatic psychology, music and sound. My doctorate and training have involved classwork, internships and fellowships at NYU-Bellevue, Payne Whitney - Cornell, and Albert Einstein College of Medicine. I've worked at anxiety clinics, CBT clinics, trauma clinics and an OCD clinic. I've trained with some of the biggest names in couples work - the Gottmans, Esther Perel, Terry Real.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Life is a wild and confusing place and as I've spent more time in it and seen my own plans and those of others workout and also fall apart, I've learned to let go more and more fully to sense a deeper grounding in a welling up of a Yes toward life that defies reason, and which speaks to the many paths of growth and happiness available when we can loosen our grasp on what we know and what we think we need. I've learned to embrace the Buddhist parable of the farmer whose son fell upon misfortunes that turned to fortunes and back again, as the farmer responded to each up and down with the open curiosity of, "We shall see." I find that there are keys to life all around us, if only we maintain enough curiosity and engagement to notice them and then hold them long enough and try enough locks to find those that they open.
