For some people taking a shower can be a monumental task. Things that used to be fun aren’t anymore. The thought of hanging out with family and friends means taking on the exhausting task of acting “normal”. Not being able to do these “simple” things can create a spiral of shame and guilt. And it doesn’t help when no one seems to get what you are experiencing and feeling. If you are feeling this way, you are one of my clients.
My Background and Approach
Even though I get what it's like to live with mental health issues, we all experience the world differently. We’re each unique mixtures of race, gender, sexuality, faith, ability, and everything that completes the sentence “I am...” I care about your uniqueness and work with preteens, teens, and adults to overcome the negative spirals of depression, anxiety, grief, shame, and guilt. In therapy, I will meet you where you are, and we'll go at your pace. We'll work together to find techniques that work for you. Maybe that's mindfulness, maybe it's not. Maybe it's exploring your upbringing, maybe it's not. The most important thing is that I'm hearing your story and that you have a space to say whatever you need to say in the way that you need to say it.
