About My Clients
I typically am a good fit for those who have some experience exploring personal growth, spirituality, identity expression and relationship challenges. I specialize in grief because most of us were taught to stay quiet about grief, death, and endings of all kinds, so we don't have many skills for letting go of what's left after loss. Many of my grief support clients have hit a wall trying to manage their grief, and need something to release them from the pain, hurt, anger, resentment and trauma.
My Background and Approach
I believe that an authentic connection to another person has boundless healing power and that every person has, at some level, the need to be seen, heard and understood by others. During this very challenging time of COVID-19, sheltering-in-place, social distancing, fears of virus transmission, PLUS the civil unrest, protests, arrests, fireworks, and other jolting sensory information, we are especially deprived of the calming, settling and comforting routines that help us feel safe. For some, this may be a reality their bodies and minds have been forced to adapt to over a long period of time, and the collective grief that is rising to the surface can no longer be denied. I use a "whole person" (holistic) approach, including Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems, Object Relations, CBT and the Grief Recovery Method, to help people heal.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that it is up to the regular folks who aren't in positions of power or influence to create our own support network and rise up against forces that want us to stay quiet. I believe it's in our physical and emotional nature to heal. I believe our way of adapting to a threatening world is normal and not to be dismissed. I believe each person has the right to make choices that are in harmony with life, vitality and mutual respect. I believe we are highly underestimating what we can accomplish together.
