About My Clients
Grief is deeply individual - this is "come as you are." Whether you are still in a raw, visceral place, or have moved on and just need a guide to collaborate with as you find your next path, I am here to bear witness, to educate, and to help. Whether you are numb; are caregiving and heavy with anticipatory grief; or have experienced sudden and unexpected loss; I hope you will consider calling. I know it takes a lot to pick up the phone, and I'm always happy to do a free initial consultation.
My Background and Approach
I've worked in hospice for almost 10 years now, which is both an honor and a privilege. I love my work, and have learned a lot from it. It can be a comforting relief for my patients, to learn about the physical and neurological symptoms of grief, the common stages most go through, and the normal pitfalls to be expected. I can help you reframe troubling scenarios with cognitive behavioral or narrative therapies; help you develop mindfulness and somatic strategies to cope during the hardest times; and develop simple rituals with you to honor those you've lost. I sometimes collaborate with patients on "homework" assignments, to do between sessions, and always involve patients in gentle goal-setting as time passes. I have earned multiple awards for compassionate care with families in hospice settings, but I have also experienced and researched a great deal about potentially traumatic losses involving addiction, suicide, and other sudden circumstances that rarely involve hospice.
