About My Clients

Do you ever feel like your best is not enough? Or that you know you’re not living the way you want to live but do not know how to change? Or simply feel too many negative feelings like depression and anxiety that it is hard to focus on anything else? I do not simply treat symptoms but I believe in treating the person. I want to help you identify what really matters to you, figure out what is getting in the way of living this way, and finding a more authentic way of showing up.

My Background and Approach

I am an Asian-American male psychologist who lives and works in the East Bay (San Francisco Bay Area) since 2014. I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Azusa Pacific University with an emphasis in Family Psychology and consultation. I work part-time at Kaiser Permanente in Fairfield, CA and have been supervising postdoctoral residents since 2016. I also have a private practice at Eastside Christian Counseling Center in Dublin, CA. Prior to college, I enlisted in the United States Army as a mental health specialist for over 8 years. I have an integrative approach that is customized for my clients but my general theoretical orientations include Family Systemic Psychology, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. That means I take your story in to context, provide an emotionally safe space to uncover the meaning to your story, and collaboratively re-construct a lifestyle that is more authentically you.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe in counseling as a collaborative process. That means you already have many strengths and life experiences that are vital to answering some of your life questions. My role is to highlight those strengths, uncover certain thoughts or behavioral patterns that are either working for or against you, and find ways to live a life aligned with what is most important to you. Lastly, my personal faith and graduate education in therapy included biblical studies from a Christian worldview. As a result, even though I see clients of all faiths or no faith backgrounds, one of my areas of expertise is Christian member care. When integrating faith, I take a client-centered approach and honor the client’s lead in spiritual emphasis. Often, clients pursue to live a kingdom-centered life while grappling with emotional and relational challenges. If my therapeutic style seems to be a good fit for you, please feel free to contact me!
