I have studied extensively through this lens which prizes the client's experience of their own world over the therapist's, offering the client maximum respect and agency. Narrative therapy is particularly helpful at not pathologizing or labeling a client as the problem, rather, the problem is simply the problem. Narrative therapy lets the client develop new stories about their lives and discard stories that no longer serve them.

I graduated with distinction from my Master's program in the study of family systems. Where traditional psychology looks inward towards the individual, family systems says the individual cannot be known until we know what systems they belong to. These systems start with the family, but also expand into community, state, country, and all manner of cultural systems. Exploring through a systems lens can often help an individual understand their identity in a stronger way.

I have extensively studied the work and careers of Carl Whitaker and Virginia Satir, two pioneers in the field of experiential. Each approached clients differently, but both approached clients in a deeply human way that doesn't shy away from saying or experiencing what is necessary to affect change.

As the 'B' in the LGBTQIA+ community, I bring my full self into the therapy space to meet others who live in the world and must face the many cultural challenges our community routinely faces. While I don't believe a therapist has to be gay to help a client, by having a therapist who identifies as LGBT+ can often bring an added measure of comfort to clients who are seeking to live more authentically.

There remain many misunderstandings and stigmas surrounding this way of living. As a person with lived experience in this community, I am sensitive and attuned to the complex challenges (and rich rewards) that can come with polyamory.

As the "B" in the LGBTQIA+ community, I bring an awareness and deep sensitivity to clients who are often faced with the challenges of judging themselves and being judged from the outside world. Although not transgender myself, I wholeheartedly welcome clients, couples, and families who are looking to find more peace in their lives with respect to their transgender identities.
