About My Clients

I support and guide elite athletes (pro, Olympic, college, elite high school) who want to build their mental game so that they are just as strong, flexible, and stable mentally as they are physically. I teach my clients the skills and strategies they need to perform their best, recover from injury faster, and win more often - even in the face of adversity. I also help my clients manage everyday stress, mental health concerns, and relationship issues like family, teammates, and coaches.

My Background and Approach

I studied athletic training (aka sports medicine) in college and worked with multiple professional teams during the first part of my career. Then I earned my master's degree in sport psychology and started using mental skills like relaxation and mental imagery to help the injured athletes I was guiding through surgery, rehab, and return to sport. After 10+ years as an athletic trainer, I earned a doctorate degree in counseling psychology so I could change careers and become a sport psychologist. I use my extensive understanding of sport, the mind, and the body to guide my clients to the goals and aspirations they want to achieve - both in sport and in every day life. I help my clients understand their challenges on a deeper level so they can make the changes they want and live their life with purpose, intent, fulfillment, and inner peace. I also teach them how to develop and use mental skills and strategies that help them manage inner turmoil, stress, and personal dissatisfaction.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

First and foremost, I believe in the value of respect for others. I strongly believe in the importance of treating another person with dignity and respect, even when I have different views or beliefs. This requires me and my clients to learn how to embrace discomfort, which is another value I hold. Discomfort is a natural part of life and it is OK - even important - for us to experience it. Our ability to understand what we find meaningful and valuable in our life helps us make decisions and act in ways that match our personal beliefs. When our decisions and actions match our personal beliefs we are able to live a life that is fulfilling and offers inner peace. I am not a therapist who will "just sit and talk". I like to be active in my sessions, meaning, I like to practice skills and strategies so that my clients are ready to use these new abilities when they need them in every day life. Last, I believe in practicing what I preach which includes regular mindfulness activities.
