My Background and Approach
I’m a licensed clinical social worker with over 40+ years of experience. Now retired, I offer online therapy on a part-time basis to clients in Ohio. Clients describe my style as steady, thoughtful, easy to talk to, and (appropriately) humorous. Sessions are structured enough to feel purposeful, but always focused on what matters most to you. Put simply, YOU drive your therapy and I serve as your "clinical travel guide." I offer affordable options through Open Path. Scheduling and billing happen directly through their platform. Open Path therapists adhere to a low cost, per session, self-pay fee model. (https://openpathcollective.org/clinicians/tim-knappenberger) I do not bill insurance. Many clients choose private pay for privacy, flexibility, and to avoid the hassles of dealing with insurance requirements. As a result, I keep my fees purposely low and affordable. I also offer a FREE 15 minute consultation meeting to see if what you're seeking would fit with what I can offer.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Though growing up in a Christian culture, I have spiritually evolved beyond the confines of organized religion. As such, I believe we all possess divinity, are connected to one another, and come into this world to experience the challenges of life in order grow and learn the lessons those challenges present. In other words, this world and life that we incarnate into (yes...multiple times) is a "school" designed for our benefit and advancement as eternal souls. I count it an honor and privilege to work with those who seek meaning and purpose beyond the pain and suffering we experience as we walk through our lives, loves, and relationships.
