I use ACT, Mindfulness, and RCT to help adolescents and young people to create a safe environment and therapeutic relationship in which they can talk about their experiences, thoughts, feelings, and emotions becoming more self-aware. Then together we will develop life-long coping skills and strategies to help alleviate anxious symptoms.

The adolescent/young adult generation, more than any other in history, has the world at their fingertips. The opportunities and experiences available to this generation are endless. What motivates me is helping individuals with enormous amounts of talent who arrive with feelings of loneliness, uncertainty, lack of self-confidence, and direction–thrive. I want to help these individuals identify their values, strengths, resources, purpose, and skills to optimize their performance and happiness.

Through mindfulness, a person maintains an awareness of their thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations in relation to their environment. Furthermore, mindfulness for teens allows a teenager to observe thoughts and feelings without the burden of self-judgment. Moreover, by helping people to stay in tune with their current experience, mindfulness exercises and mindfulness meditation provide freedom from past regrets and nagging fears of the future.

Relational therapy, sometimes referred to as relational-cultural therapy, is a therapeutic approach based on the idea that mutually satisfying relationships with others are necessary for one’s emotional well-being. This type of psychotherapy takes into account the ways in which social and familial factors relate to the relationships in a person’s life.

Developed in the 1980s by Steven Hayes, a psychology professor at the University of Nevada, ACT is a type of mindfulness-based therapy that encourages people to embrace their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting them or feeling guilty about them. ACT techniques emphasize acceptance rather than avoidance.
