About My Clients
Growing up, perhaps you felt misunderstood and ignored by those most closest to you. Maybe you felt as if no one loved you nor thought you were important or special. Now, you've noticed more and more that you feel lonely and disconnected from others, you’re tired all the time, angry, irritated, anxious or depressed. You find it difficult to be vulnerable with others, your inner voice is critical and judgmental of your every move, and you question, "Who am I?". I want to help you be free!
My Background and Approach
My heart is committed to helping you cultivate your most authentic self, set boundaries, find self-love and self-compassion, communicate your needs and wants, and be here now. I incorporate the healing practices and principles of yoga (not just asana), somatic techniques (body work), IFS and CBT. Bottom up techniques like somatic psychotherapy, yoga, breathwork, and meditation work through the body to change the brain, improve self-regulation, regulate your nervous system, and increase your awareness of emotions, sensations, thoughts, and behavior. Top down approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and traditional talk therapy engage the mind to change the brain.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I created Root to Thrive Integrative Healing because I believe that Black women deserve a sacred and safe space to heal. I am committed to supporting Black women as they look to free themselves to experience the most authentic version of themselves. I also believe in the power of integrating the body into therapy. There is evolving research and literature that supports that true healing can happen when both mind and body are integrated. Your body has a lot of wisdom to share, if you're willing to slow down and listen.
