About My Clients

Your life might seem fine–even great–on the outside, but inside you're overwhelmed. Maybe anxiety keeps your mind spinning. Maybe you're exhausted from putting everyone else's needs ahead of your own. Or perhaps your relationship feels stuck in the same painful patterns. You don't have to figure it out alone. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties or major life transitions, therapy can help you feel more grounded, more connected, and more confident.

My Background and Approach

I became a therapist after 25+ years working in marketing communications. My survival as an entrepreneur depended on my ability to build trust, understand what the client wanted to change, ask the right questions, listen well, and work collaboratively to help the client achieve their goals. These skills translate remarkably well to the work of therapy. It was not until I experienced therapy for myself, however, that I decided to become a clinician. Not only did my own therapy experience help me to emerge from a very difficult situation, it transformed other aspects of my life in ways I had never imagined—including my relationships with others and my relationship with myself. I wanted to help others find their own experience of that. Some people are more ready for change than others, so I do my best to meet people where they are. Trust, validation and therapeutically-appropriate challenging are essential tools in my work with clients.

My Values as a Therapist

We all have stories—experiences that have shaped our beliefs about how we see the world and how we see ourselves within it. Some of those experiences contribute positively to our ability to live well with ourselves and in community with others. Some of those experiences are not so helpful, and, left unchallenged, can contribute to patterns of thought, feeling and behavior that promote our own suffering. It is both humbling and an honor to hear each client's stories. I value the trust clients place in me, and the vulnerability they extend in sharing themselves in therapy. I deeply value the privilege it is for me to come alongside a client, and help them see themselves in a new light, with more compassion, and with capacity for change.
