About My Clients
Dr. Nelson specializes in Forensic Psychology; however, is competent in a number of specialties including, but not limited: addiction, sexual abuse (Offenders and Victims), geriatric mental health, community trauma and the mental health impact stemming from disparities, and mental health issues stemming from living with HIV/AIDS, LGBTQ mental health concerns, and mental health issues stemming from disparities (Socioeconomic status, health, gender and race biases).
My Background and Approach
Dr. Nelson received her undergraduate degree from the Florida State University and obtained her Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University. She is an advocate for increasing awareness around diversity and disparity issues in Black and Brown Communities. She recently founded P.R.O.S.P.E.R., Inc., a non- profit organization which serves to advocate for and provide community mental health services for people of color.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Dr. Nelson's agency is dedicated to improving the quality of life of our community, through compassion, understanding and competence. It is our belief that with improved mental health, quality of life will be improved. NPS works with the client to identify and begin overcoming barriers for success, emotional wellness or mental health related issues which impedes one from living well.
