About My Clients
I am experienced in working with clients from diverse backgrounds, particularly clients navigating life transitions (e.g., adulting, career development, relationship challenges, and expatriate experience). I also frequently work with professionals struggling to navigate balancing the stress from their careers with their personal lives. I strive to provide a warm and encouraging environment for clients from varying cultural, social, and gender identities to continue their healing journey.
My Background and Approach
I approach therapy with the belief that we all have the potential to grow into who we want to be and reach our goals. I earned my bachelor’s degrees and doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from The University of Iowa. I gained experience working in college counseling centers and community mental health centers during my program and learned how to integrate a variety of therapeutic approaches with clients. I also worked in a women’s shelter for several years providing support and resources to victims of domestic violence. There, I gained a deeper understanding of how the intersection of our identities, power, and privilege shapes our worldview and experiences. During my doctoral program I conducted research on identity development and my thesis explored the impact that a client’s comfort expressing their culture to others had on their outcomes in therapy.
