About My Clients
I have worked with individuals (children, adolescents, adults, men & women) with a wide range of concerns such as depression, anxiety, attention deficit, bipolar, anger management problems, marital/relationship issues, parenting problems, sexual problems, and career concerns. These problems often cause major disruptions in our daily life.
My Background and Approach
Since 2011, I have been working as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina, providing individual and family therapy for adults, adolescents, and children as well as counseling for couples with relationship/martial concerns. My approach is often solution focus, client and holistic centered but I also can use other approaches to cater to the person’s needs. I believe that it is very important to look at the whole person (environment, family, medical, financial, etc.) instead of just the presenting problems. I like to take a nonjudgmental, and caring approach to help the person navigate through their journey and learn how to cope with their daily life stressors by using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution-Focus Therapy, and Reality Therapy. I know taken the first step to seeking therapy is big and anxiety invoking but if you take the first step, I will take the rest of the steps with you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that life can be stressful and overwhelming at times causing us to experience mixed emotions such as anxiety, depression, sadness, and/or anger. I believe that our environment; our upbringing and our experiences have a major impact on our daily lives which sometimes causes us to learn some bad habits; view situations in a negative way as well as causes us to use poor coping skills to deal with our daily stressors. So therefore, our learned behaviors or unresolved problems often carries over into our adulthood. I believe that anybody can change with the right tools and if they are willing to challenge themselves to break identified patterns and behaviors that are holding them back. I believe that changing the way you think will in turn change the way you feel.
