About My Clients
Folks often come to therapy because they're struggling with things like disordered eating/EDs, substance abuse, self-harm, and/or panic attacks. But/and, what we usually figure out is that there's a connection between these symptoms and some type of past trauma. My short-term goal for patients is always to first help them stabilize. But my longer-term goal is to help you/your body actually re-process trauma, so you can grow and heal, not just cope.
My Background and Approach
My foundations are firmly rooted in Buddhist and somatic approaches to psychology. I also draw (to a lesser extent) from ecopsychology, philosophy, and psychoanalytic theory. In practice, I use a combination of mindfulness-based interventions, EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and polyvagal theory-informed somatic work.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I'm somehow both a disciplined and reckless person spiritually speaking. I'm both a British Traditional Wiccan (1st degree initiate in the Alexandrian tradition), and a Buddhist. I am also passionate about conservation and animal rights, and my husband and I volunteer at a local animal rescue.
