Grief and loss are integral to the human experience. Grief and loss comes in many forms, i.e. death, loss of relationships, job loss, failure in meeting goals, or missed opportunities are examples. Whatever the cirucmstances surrounding the loss healing is possible. I take a compassionate approach to assisting individuals process through the grief with the goal to gain insight and acceptance, as well as navigate the emotional onslaught that comes with loss.

Many inviduals experience anxiety, sometimes debilitating levels that negatively impact their ability to function. Anxiety is a human response to various stressors and circumstances. In working with individuals experiencing anxiety while exploring root causes, I also assist clients access the tools necessary to improve their ability to self-regulate. This includes increasing awareness around thoughts and situations that lead to increased anxiety.

Depression can be the result from a variety of situations, such as disappointments, developmental childhood traumas, relationship issues, work stressors, or societal dynamics. Whatever the case, depression is treatable within a supportive and compassionate environment. I assist individuals work to resolve and gain insight around the issues leading to depression. I use CBT, meditation, and Brainspotting interventions to support the healing process.

I am a Board Certified Art Therapist, with 20 plus years of experience using art therapy interventions to assist in the healing process. Art therapy has shown efficacy in alliviating depression, anxiety, and increasing self-awareness. It can be particularly helpful in gaining access to thoughts and emotions that are sometimes difficult to verbalize or to address with talk therapy.

I have training via the Beck Institute in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT works well in assisting idnviduals gain mastery of the impact of their thoughts, emotions, and behavior. I help individuals learn to identify and to challenge thought distortions to improve their overall well-being. This tool helps in better naviating day to day life, improve a sense of control, and better emotional regulation.

Brainspotting, developed by David Grand, Ph.D. is a Neuroexperiental therapy for healing and expansion. Brainspotting utilizes the brain, brainstem, and nervous systems’ natural ability to heal from trauma, process painful emotions, and to increase into desired states of being. Brainspotting allows for change to take place in fewer sessions and more concisely versus talk therapy alone.
