About My Clients
Have you experienced family rejection? Do you struggle to cope with the systemic discrimination the world insists on fostering? Is it hard to trust yourself because of chronic invalidation? Perhaps you have been in survival mode for years, and all you want is to feel safe again. We may not be able to change the cruelties of the world, but in my office, we can equip you with tools to feel safer within your body.
My Background and Approach
We don't expect plants to grow in the wrong climate. A cactus may thrive in a desert while a hydrangea needs more shade and water. People also flourish in different environments. That is to say, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. While I utilize CBT, DBT, and mindfulness, adapting to your therapy needs may mean a more eclectic style. If you struggle with anxiety or depression, the coping skills of DBT, or the cognitive restructuring of CBT, might be a perfect fit. If you are dealing with interpersonal or communal conflict or rejection, let's use your strengths to connect, repair, or cope with the situation. If you are experiencing stress or struggling with executive dysfunction in college, we can build skills to keep you on track. In sum, my approach is to meet you wherever you are, with curiosity and compassion. Your individuality, self-determination, and humanity will always be respected in my office.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we are all worthy of dignity, respect, and joy. Some of us have been planted, watered, and nurtured in a way that cultivates a thriving life. For many of us, we have been planted in arid soil, malnourished, and neglected in such ways that make growth seem impossible. I believe that growth, that thriving instead of just surviving, is possible for anyone. Change happens in the discomfort of uprooting harmful beliefs or behaviors or thoughts. Pulling the weeds of generational trauma is necessary labor to cultivate a better tomorrow. Replanting yourself is scary. It’s messy. And it is freeing. I look forward to accompanying you on your therapy journey.
