About My Clients
My clients have experienced significant challenges in their life that created or exposed deeply embedded beliefs and narratives that no longer feel true to their identity and experience. They are willing to sit with challenging and painful feelings within the safety and containment of the co-created space between us to both acknowledge their suffering and imagine new and more hopeful stories for their life.
My Background and Approach
I hold a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from Christian Theological Seminary, an affirming and spiritually integrative institution in Indianapolis. I am trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy, which means which means that I believe that pain and dissonance happen in the context of relationship and, thus, heal in the context of relationship. I also am fully trained in and utilize EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) to help clients integrate experiences and emotions within the mind and body as well as to process through hurts and painful beliefs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I came into this work through my own experiences with both trauma and healing. By engaging in therapy and EMDR, I began to experience the freedom and hope that came with facing and owning all the parts of my story rather than living within the context of fear and survival strategies that no longer served me. I have a religious history that encouraged disembodiment and part of my healing journey has involved significant spiritual transition as well as a journey back into embodied experience. I am experienced and affirming of LGBTQIA human beings and relationships and am committed to growing in cultural competency and cultural humility.
