About My Clients
My typical clients love to be challenged, enjoy laughing in session and feel better after they express their emotions. Together, we work toward helping you feel safer in your body and more connected to yourself. I work with adults and teens in the LGBTQ+ community, neurodivergents (neurospicy folks), substance abuse concerns and people who want to work through their trauma.
My Background and Approach
Therapy with me is collaborative, validating, and occasionally unhinged in the most clinically appropriate way. I use EMDR for clients that want to reprocess negative beliefs or events that have made them feel repulsed, disgusted, defeated, and other big feelings. I believe that most of my clients can benefit from EMDR. What I've also seen that has been useful is Motivational Interviewing and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy has been great for some difficulties of acceptance, black/white thinking, and relationship issues. All four of these modalities are here to help you. I pull from other theories when these don't typically work. My job as a therapist is to get you on the track that you want and deserve.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I worked at a shelter doing advocate work with human trafficking survivors, sexual assault survivors, and domestic violence survivors. I have a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice. I also work with inmates in Galveston County and perform assessments and help in diagnoses during weekends. I have an ability to use empathy for all populations I serve.
