About My Clients
I know that trauma can change your life in the hardest of ways AND I believe in your ability to heal from it. I believe in the importance of addressing underlying trauma that may be contributing to current difficulties such as anxiety, depression, relationship/codependency issues, substance use, anger, perfectionism, and more. I am trained in EMDR and use it frequently in the treatment of distressing symptoms for both teens and adults.
My Background and Approach
My work with trauma, crisis, and substance use began in juvenile probation settings and it has continued into public schools and residential treatment. I have treated and worked with teenagers / young adults in crisis and their families for 6 years, as well as experience working at domestic violence shelters. Using evidence-based techniques, knowledge of neuroscience, and frequent humor and sarcasm, I provide a bold, warm, and no-fluff approach to therapy. Finding the right therapist can be hard, so I offer a free 15-minute consultation phone call to help you determine if I am the right fit for you or your loved one.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I take a no-BS approach to life, therapy, and social justice issues. I believe in evidence-based care for minority populations because of the proven obstacles faced on a daily basis, I believe in accepting and affirming LGBTQ populations because it is suicide prevention (period.), and I believe that all humans have a right to medical and mental health care regardless of their immigration status. Humans are humans, and I am in the business of helping humans.
