About My Clients
Do you feel paralyzed when facing a major life transition --- deciding a career path, stepping into adulthood, becoming a couple or separating, becoming a parent or not? Perhaps your relationship is frozen and you and your partner can't talk without fighting or can't agree on a shared vision for your lives. These stuck places are so lonesome, even if you are stuck as a couple. I believe that good therapy can relieve the isolation and create movement and the change you are hoping for.
My Background and Approach
I am experienced with working with most of life's most common problems --- depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, loneliness --- and I do have some particular specialties. I have significant experience and training in working with infertility and adoption. I routinely work with all members of the adoption triad: adoptees, birth/first parents and adoptive parents. I have advanced training in working with trauma and dissociation with various modalities including EMDR. I feel most at home doing depth work with committed individuals and in recent years have become passionate about the healing power of group therapy appreciating that it is both an affordable option and a deeply transformative one.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that all human beings have inherent worth and dignity, and that we are both formed and healed in relationship with one another. I believe that each of us is further shaped and affected by the culture in which we live and that an intersectional understanding of race, class and gender must be integrated into the therapeutic process. While therapy is typically serious business, I think humor and warmth can ease the process. I believe being out in nature and away from our devices is inherently healing and we all need to do a lot more of that.
