About My Clients
Often my clients have been in traditional talk therapy but something still felt missing or unaddressed. They come to me looking to deepen their mental and emotional well being with something more. Most of my clients struggle with anxiety, perfectionism, people pleasing, and/or boundary setting. Nearly all of my clients have experienced something in their lives that's left them changed in some way such as unhealthy romantic relationships, chronic illness, or a traumatic childhood.
My Background and Approach
I'm a Level 1 trained Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist via the IFS institute. My primary specialty is trauma, which I find IFS (a.k.a Parts Work) extremely gentle and effective at treating. IFS is an experiential modality and goes beyond talking. Somatic therapy components are interwoven with IFS. I start work with clients by helping re-connect ones mind and body. This allows better understanding of ones thoughts, feelings and behaviors. I use this new connection to the body to then guide individuals to unearthing deeply helpful information about themselves. My clients become empowered with this insight and are able to make immensely beautiful changes for themselves driven by their own agency instead of their feelings or past situations. I often feel IFS therapy work is very sacred - carefully illuminating areas that have felt like dark internal recesses. It's an honor and a privilege to guide and witness.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that the world would be a better place if mental health were given more priority and less stigma. I am a fierce ally for minority groups, including LGBTQ+, BIPOC and women. Justice and equity have been deep core values to me since I was a little girl. I believe in authenticity: being transparent (and kind) with others. I believe in constantly working to be a better human and a better therapist. I believe as Dr. Becky Kennedy (child psychotherapist): That we are good inside.
