About My Clients
Does this sound like you? "I'm not good enough" "I always say the wrong thing" "I should be over it by now" "I don't want to burden anyone with my past" If you are plagued by past trauma, panic attacks, self-deprecating thoughts, fears, anxieties, and low self-esteem, you deserve to work on this in a supportive and caring environment. Life can be better and I have seen so many people find their voice and conquer their fears.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). What this means is I met rigorous standards in the State of New York including education (Masters Degree), training, and supervised experience under a highly experienced clinician. When you work with an LMHC, you can rest assured that *all* of their education, training, and experience was geared towards clinical work. I have worked with 100's of clients over the past 9 years, with a high retention rate (meaning my clients come back) and high reported improvement in symptoms. I am trained in the following: -CBT Techniques -DBT Techniques -CBT for Social Anxiety -CBT for Skin Picking and Hair Pulling -CBT-I (for Insomnia) -Exposure Therapy Techniques
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that each and every person is doing their best, but we tend to try to "bully" ourselves into good mental health by insulting ourselves, replaying past scenarios, and judging our thoughts and feelings until we're left feeling exhausted. I know that my clients have the ability to validate themselves while changing their behavior so that they are more engaged in life. I know this not only from the 100's of people I've worked with, but I've been there too. I thought that if I didn't "beat up on myself", I would fail at everything. I finally learned that I can change my thoughts and talk to myself a lot more kindly, and guess what - I'm not failing! I also must mention I am a proud cat mom to 4 little ones, love listening to True Crime, feel that finding new coffee shops is a valid hobby, and popcorn can be a full meal.
