About My Clients

Are you feeling more and more alone in the world, due to social isolation, technology, and the fast pace of life? Are you struggling to keep your head above water after suffering some kind of loss or major change? Have you been hurt? Abused? You don't have to do it alone anymore. Everyone deserves to have a "person"-- someone who gives you their undivided attention, makes you feel heard, validated, and supported, without any judgment. I welcome the opportunity to be that person for you.

My Background and Approach

Over my 20-year career as a therapist, my clients have told me that working with me is like going through a home renovation. Most people come in feeling like their life is a big, disorganized, and painful mess. But my approach is to provide a warm, safe space to pull everything out, see what needs to go, what can stay, and what needs to be worked on and "repurposed." Developing new insights about all your "stuff" helps you see clearer solutions. I use my training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to identify and challenge outdated beliefs and thought patterns. With Narrative Therapy, we can explore different perspectives of your life story. I can also use Internal Family Systems therapy to work on the parts of you that need healing, while strengthening your sense of Self. Whatever it is that you bring in, no matter how messy your life feels, I can help sort through it and together we'll make the renovations you need.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe humans are meant to continually evolve, and when we resist those deep down, gut feelings that something needs to change, it creates suffering in some way. It can be hard, like deciding to leave a relationship, job, or career. Sometimes life changes happen, whether you want them or not. Like knowing what to do with yourself after your kids have left home, being diagnosed with an illness, having to take care of your parents, or going through a breakup or divorce. I believe these are times of Winter -- a period of losing one way of being, to clear the path for a new way that you can't yet see. It can take a long time to adjust to "new normals," but therapy helps shorten that, because you're not just out there wandering aimlessly. Having a trusted guide is nurturing and helpful. I've been through many Winters of my own, so I can share my stories to give you hope and motivation to head toward whatever Spring looks like for YOU.
