About My Clients
I believe there is no such thing as an "ideal" client. I am happy to work with anyone who is ready to work hard to make lasting changes in their life. True change requires hard work and motivation - I will be alongside at every step!
My Background and Approach
My goal is to help you achieve the highest level of wellness possible. This includes focusing on both the psychological and physical aspects of the problem. Although each session will differ, my goal is to support change while arming you with as many tools as possible to handle daily stressors. In addition to addressing emotional health, we may work on: - stress management skills - relaxation - improving sleep - managing diet - increasing exercise - developing effective coping strategies - navigating relationships Through scientifically proven strategies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT/CBT-i), Mindfulness Training, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I will teach you vital skills for taking control of your emotional and physical health.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My first passion was actually medical anthropology. Having emigrated to the United States as a child, I had always been fascinated by other cultures and how people approach health and wellness from different perspectives. I decided to go “abroad” to Canada for my undergraduate degree at McGill University in Montreal. I took my first psychology course at McGill and was instantly hooked. I found a way to combine my interest in medicine with a better understanding of how people think and behave – leading me down the road towards behavioral medicine. My own immigration history and my love of different cultures and backgrounds has informed my clinical work. I am a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion, and I took great pride in teaching undergraduates about cultural psychology.
