About My Clients
You try your hardest to act "put together", but deep down you know that things are very different. I know how hard it can be to constantly doubt yourself or feel like you are not doing enough. You might find yourself feeling guilty about disappointing others. This may cause some frustration and resentment. We have all been there! You don't have to sacrifice yourself to meet your goals. You CAN free yourself from self-doubt, and make life more meaningful.
My Background and Approach
My goal is to help those who worry, constantly doubt themselves, and want to feel more confident, and self-compassionate about themselves. I teach skills to manage emotions and thoughts in a way that makes life simpler for you. Being an Indian American woman and a person of color, I can work from a multicultural perspective. My patients describe me as conversational, and I have been told many times that I have a “down to earth” approach. I am not a stereotypical TV therapist who stares at you and takes notes, or someone who wants to gossip with you. I believe in action oriented work.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am passionate about my work because I have had my own journey with building confidence in myself and recognizing that it is okay to put myself first when it is needed. Being an immigrant and woman of color, I have had to deal with adjusting to many changes, and challenges throughout my life. My experience allows me to work from a multicultural lens to serve those who share similar challenges as mine. Additionally, I feel that mental health should matter as much as physical health. Just as we all have a Primary Care Physician for our physical health, I believe we all need a “Primary Care Counselor” for our mental health. Counseling can be an essential part of growing as an individual. I have always noticed that my patients are able to benefit from being aware of themselves and feel more confident when they have the right tools to recognize and manage their emotions effectively.
