My Background and Approach
I am a licensed clinical social worker with nearly 30 years’ experience in the health and mental health fields. I earned a BA in Economics (summa cum laude, phi beta kappa) from Whitman College then a Master of Social Work from University of Washington. I spent 25 years in emergency medicine and acute healthcare, as well as doing program development in the areas of domestic violence and bariatric surgery support. In add Making the decision to seek help/enter counseling can be a difficult decision, often with feelings of fear, overwhelm and discouragement. My approach is to first understand what drove the client, and/or family, to reach out for help, and then to provide a comfortable space to discuss what they’d like to be different. Working together to identify treatment goals, and an approach, the client gains confidence in the process and hopefulness in a positive outcome. I use a primarily solution focused approach, tailoring it to the client strengths and needs.
