About My Clients
I enjoy helping clients on their journey to better understand themselves. In each session, I will work to ensure you feel heard and understood. We can work together to develop skills to allow you to access a place of calm in times of stress. If interpersonal relationships are causing distress, we can focus on communication skills. I have sixteen years of experience working with adolescents. I also have experience working with victims of sexual assault and domestic violence.
My Background and Approach
I was a a high school teacher for sixteen years. I am currently an elementary school counselor. I have a great deal of experience working with parents and their children. I also enjoy working with adults with trauma, anxiety and depression. I worked at the YWCA with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. As a school counselor and former teacher, I am well versed in Cognitive Behavior therapy and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. I am a holistic counselor.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I love people and animals, especially the misunderstood ones. I have a Pitbull named Blu who is my best friend. I am a single mom with a with a gay child. I taught in ethnically diverse urban high school. I believe there is room for everyone at the table. I run my practice and live my life by avoiding judgment and practicing empathy.
