About My Clients
My clients are women, across the lifespan (age 15+), who seek empowerment, healing, growth, and education to move forward from trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, mood disorders and OCD. These women are motivated to embrace life with greater enjoyment and comfort in their mind, spirit and bodies. They seek an experienced therapist who is warm, has expertise, and is active within the therapy session. My clients are willing to utilize outside resources to deepen and support change.
My Background and Approach
I work from multiple perspectives, and match client personality styles and needs with evidence based care. I work from psychodynamic, attachment styles, CBT, IFS, Interpersonal, Narrative, and Solution Focused theories. I believe change happens through experiences within and outside of the therapy session. I am a therapist-educator and believe psychoeducation is a powerful tool in therapy. We will encourage change by doing activities in session, and discovering what is blocking positive change and creating conditions for change to occur. I believe that you have many answers inside of you, we just need to learn to access them and help them manifest in your life. Authenticity, honesty, warmth and humor are always present in our work together. Research tells us that the relationship between a client and therapist is the most important factor in positive change, so we invest in our relationship from the first session. My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that vast changes can occur in mental health when working with a therapist who invests in you as a client. For me, this means maintaining a smaller caseload than average. As your therapist, I believe in working collaboratively with your medication provider if you have one, doing family sessions as needed, and really helping you to shift your environment - both internally and externally (when possible) to support positive change and growth. We know that mental health is influenced by your physical health and spirituality. It's never my job to tell you what to believe spiritually -- only you can decide that. I will encourage you to have some sort of a spiritual practice, no matter how small. I believe the data from research in mental health is very helpful, but that you are an expert on you. I am an expert on helping to translate evidence-based theory and techniques into practice to help you. But you are the expert on you. Not me. We will cultivate your inner voice.
