My practice is full - I help people move beyond outdated patterns and live from a place of greater authenticity, courage and joy.
Counselor in Seattle, WA
I work with individuals who are beginning to question their relationship to substances or are already in recovery. I worked as a counselor in a 12-step residential recovery facility and have respect for AA. I also have high esteem for the work of Gabor Maté (Realm of Hungry Ghosts) and Johann Hari (Lost Connections: Uncovering the Real Causes of Depression – and the Unexpected Solutions). I also work with people who have addictions to gambling, porn, eating, shopping and thinking.
There are many influences on my work from the realm of spirituality. These influences include the work and writing of Pema Chodron, Tara Brach, Joseph Campbell, Jiddu Krishnamurti, Thich Nhat Hanh, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Bill Russell, and Martha Graham among others.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy offers skills and perspectives from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Existential Therapy, and Eastern spiritual traditions. At the core of ACT are offerings that help people envision and build a bigger life based on clarity around who and what they love. I see people's vitality replenished as they engage in ACT principles and exercises.
