About My Clients
I see clients aged 16 and up who are looking for a provider with a warm, direct approach. If you have been working on your issues in therapy but are finding that it isn't enough, or if your symptoms have become so significant that they are keeping you from being able to engage in the therapeutic work, then it may be time to explore medication options. If you're curious about medication, how it works, and how it can be one tool in your mental health toolkit, send me a message!
My Background and Approach
I completed my graduate training at Yale University, and have continued regular education in the latest practices through Harvard Medical School and Neuroscience Education Institute. However, I also deeply value various modes of healing and wellness beyond a traditional Western medical model. I also recognize the courage and vulnerability involved in seeking psychiatric care. I strive to provide healing experiences for those who may have had negative past experiences with the mental health system. I believe YOU are the expert on you and I will take as much time as needed to give you all the information you need about diagnosis, psychiatric treatment, and medication options so you can make the best choices for your own life. You don't have to give up expert psychopharmacology in order to get holistic care.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have a long history of engaging in activism and organizing. I worked full time as an organizer for LGBTQ+ groups and labor unions prior to becoming a mental health clinician. I remain committed to fighting structural oppression and center these works in my belief and approach to mental health and wellness. While a traditional medical model treats all mental health issues as individual disorders, I think it's important to move away from this model and recognize the cultural, social, political and economic forces that shape our life experiences. In our sessions, I will learn about all the factors that contribute to your struggles - not just a diagnosis or checklist of symptoms.
