About My Clients
Let’s say it – life can be hard! It takes courage to ask for help and I’m here to help you on your journey of developing greater self-understanding and ability to manage your concerns better. Family and relationship problems, microaggressions/discriminations, financial stress, and work and academic demands can sometimes feel overwhelming. Thoughtful therapeutic practices can help you cope life problems better, and I look forward to helping teach you the skills to build the life you want.
My Background and Approach
In my work with clients, I use an integrative approach, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Psychodynamic/Interpersonal Therapy (how your past experiences and relationships connect to your present concerns), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I also integrate culture, identity, and aspects of mindfulness and self-compassion skills into my work with clients. In your therapy, we'll discuss what is important to you and help you relate to your thoughts, feelings and behaviors in a way that is more balanced, productive and healthy. The more we push away our natural feelings the stronger they come back! This is why I advocate for relating to your inner world in ways that allow you to feel more in control of how you respond to it.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a Black-identified, multi-racial therapist, I am committed to supporting my clients’ identities, including helping them navigate issues of race, culture, and other issues affecting marginalized communities. I am an 2SLGBTQ+ affirming therapist who believes all folx deserve a safe space, to be taken seriously, and to be truly heard. In addition, I believe that positive growth and change have the greatest opportunity to occur when therapy is collaborative and the client is an active participant in their treatment. I’ve also found that positive growth and change happens most when client’s feel motivated to engage in therapy, practice skills between sessions, and are willing to step a bit outside of their comfort zone. If you're interested in working with me, send me a message. I look forward to hearing from you! Please keep in mind that I am licensed to practice in California which means that I can only provide services to California residents.
