My Background and Approach
I am a licensed Psychotherapist in private practice serving in Orlando, FL. I attended Troy State University where my graduate studies focused on Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I believe mental wellness is a key component in building strong families and communities. I have worked with patients representing a wide array of cultural, socioeconomic, age, sex/gender and racial identifications. I provide individual psychotherapy to adults, couples and teenagers who may be experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, self-doubt, or relationship difficulties. My therapeutic approach is Person Centered, drawing from Psychodynamic, Insight Oriented, Mindfulness Based - Cognitive Behavioral, and Whole Person Systems Perspectives. I place a strong focus on targeting negative thinking patterns and unhealthy behaviors. Together we will work as a team, building on your strengths as you work on improving your life and relationships to live a fuller, more satisfying life!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am passionate about supporting those in the black community who suffer daily in their personal and work life from the pain caused by racial discrimination/stereotyping and violence. I want to provide a safe space for you to come and talk about those private thoughts that you keep bottled inside because you feel no one can relate or understands you. I believe it I our secrets that make us sick both mentally and physically. As a black woman, wife and mother, I understand the importance that is placed on faith, family, spirituality and the necessity of being strong in order to survive the challenges of life. I am here to listen, provide support and encouragement without judgment, and to equip you with the tools you need to thrive in life.
