About My Clients
My ideal clients are Asian Americans, first and second-generation immigrants, and adoptive teens/adults navigating identity, cultural expectations, and family dynamics. You might be stuck in patterns of overthinking, self-criticism, or emotional heaviness. You're managing anxiety, OCD, trauma, or depression while trying to hold relationships and responsibilities together. You're ready to make sense of your experiences and feel more grounded.
My Background and Approach
My approach is rooted in narrative therapy—exploring the stories you've been told and the ones you tell yourself about who you are and what you've experienced. I work with children and teens (ages 12+), adults, couples, and families facing anxiety, depression, OCD, eating disorders, trauma, domestic violence, adoption issues, and family transitions including divorce, loss, and foster care.I'm trained in crisis de-escalation and play therapy, offering flexible, culturally humble therapy that honors your lived experience. I won't pathologize your family, minimize racial trauma, or push change that doesn't align with your values. Whether processing trauma, navigating OCD patterns, or facing major life transitions, therapy is a space to slow down, reconnect, and find clarity at your own pace.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe you are the author of your story, and therapy is a space to pause, reflect, and gently rewrite the parts that no longer serve you. Your culture is something to be honored, not questioned or changed. I'm deeply committed to providing culturally responsive care for Asian Americans, immigrants, and BIPOC individuals who've experienced therapy that minimized their cultural identity or family dynamics. As a Korean American therapist, I understand the pressure of filial piety, the weight of family expectations, the isolation of being "the only one," and the complexity of loving your family while also needing to set boundaries. I believe racial trauma, cultural stress, and identity struggles deserve the same attention as individual mental health symptoms—because they're inseparable.I'm passionate about supporting adoptive teens and adults navigating complex identity formation, grief, and belonging.
