My Background and Approach
I use evidence-based, short-term, and culturally-sensitive interventions. My treatment modalities include EMDR for trauma, Emotion Focus Therapy and the Gottman Method for couples, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to encourage healthier thought and behavioral patterns. I can also integrate Christian faith into therapy if you specifically request it.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I was born in Hong Kong. I came to America at the age of 13. I'm married to a clinical psychologist who is African American. We have two beautiful daughters, one of whom is autistic. As an immigrant who is in a neurodiverse and interracial marriage and a mother with a neurodivergent child, I do not see differences as something to be "fixed"; but rather, something to be celebrated. I am also well aware of the challenges these differences can create. My passion is to facilitate a safe environment where my clients experience acceptance for who they are, connection with their loved ones, and a strong sense of belongingness in their environment.
