About My Clients
I enjoy working with adults who are curious about themselves, desire change, & are interested in exploring issues or past trauma that they feel may be holding them back. You may be in college, recently graduated, or a young professional looking for some extra support. I often find that those in the LGBTQ community seek out me as a therapist as we share that connection and understand the value in that.
My Background and Approach
I believe that change is in our control and, by working from that mentality, we can learn to accept & grow from what we cannot control in order to live our life in an more optimal way. I use a variety of evidence-based approaches depending on what my client’s needs are including EMDR. I tend to utilize EMDR for the deeper issues as well as CBT and ACT for coping skills and more day to day thought based challenges. In my therapy space I value authenticity, safety, freedom to choose, connection to others as well as ourselves, and being challenged.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a member of the LGBTQ community and believe that there is value in having a therapist that is affirming of that community and identity and it's unique issues. This isn't a belief but I typically bring my golden retriever to work with me as she is trained and operates an an unofficial therapy dog in my office!
